The endless charm of Parco Giardino Sigurtà

The Parco Giardino Sigurtà boasts a long history; it dates back to 1616 and is the result of human talent applied to the majesty of nature: discover why this park is considered one of the most beautiful in Italy and it is worth a visit during your stay in Verona.

The park is located in Valeggio sul Mincio and is easily reachable by car, bus or train; originally this place was a private garden of Villa Sigurtà, later hosted the emperors Napoleon III and Francesco Giuseppe I d'Austria but became a greater park thanks to the new owner Carlo Sigurtà, who from 1941 onwards turned the whole surrounding area of arid hills in a lush oasis taking advantage of the water-drawing rights from the river Mincio for irrigation purposes.

The diligence that Sigurtà has instilled in the park, which now has an area of 600.000 square meters, suggests what wonders can be achieved by helping nature to flourish: here you can admire tulips, irises, roses, dahlias, lilies and walk on the soft grass green carpet that characterizes the larger area of the Garden Park. The Park was opened to the public in 1978 and is open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm from 8th March to 2nd November; begin your visit from the Avenue of the Roses, framed by 30,000 precious roses, continue towards the water gardens, where you will see reflected in the water the stunning Scaligeri Castle, this area of the park seems an impressionist painting due to the color intensity and the impact of the background that ideally embraces the entire landscape.

The Parco Giardino Sigurtà is an attraction recommended to everyone: families can have a break at the refreshment bars, groups of friends can have lunch at specially equipped picnic areas, the entire park can be visited on foot, by bicycle or by golf cart that can be rented on site and are equipped with GPS system, a wide range of choices to enjoy this natural treasure.

In addition, a new attraction of the Park is a beautiful maze, designed by Adrian Fisher and opened in 2011, a green maze that stretch over 2,500 square meters and reveals, in the center, a tower covered with copper: those who is able to reach the tower without getting lost can enjoy a nice view of this stunning garden.

Do not forget to add this venue to your personal tourist route around Verona; the Parco Sigurtà was awarded in 2013 as the most beautiful park in Italy, one additional reason to treat yourself a stroll through a heady garden. Official website:
