It was since the roman period 2000 years ago that this wine it has been produced.

The name of the town from the latin means valley of many cellar probably related to thefact that romans since ancient period which go back to 2000 years ago already produced this prestigious wine made with dried grapes. The Valpolicella today is renowned for the Amarone also made from dried grapes similar to the Recioto produced in the V century.

Valpolicella is characterized by three main valleys Negrar, Marano and Fumane it's very important to point out the diferrence of these three main valleys because they involve geological and climatic conformation that influence the grape growing.

Valpolicella could be a very interesting destination for a guided wine tour in order to discover the beauty of this fascinating territory related to the production of wine. During the wine tour you can also have a special lunch in a typical restaurant to taste traditional local dishes accompanied by a glass of Valpolicella wine.

The main wineries you can visit in Valpolicella are Allegrini winery which is located in the main producing area, the vally of Fumane . You can visit the wine cellar and Allegrini best products (Valpolicella Classico, Palazzo della Torre, La Poja, Amarone, Giovanni Allegrini Recioto). In the heart of Valpolicella Classica area we find as well the cellar of De Buris in which are produces the Valpolicella and the Amarone.

Another prestigious wine cellar in this area is Bertani. It is one of the first wineris which started to produce wine since 1950s and a tour in Bertani winery tour is a tour which help discover the very history of the Amarone wine.

It is also highly recommended to visit the other wineries such as Santa Sofia, Meroni, Villa Bellini and Tommasi all dedicated to the production of the Valpolicella Classico.
