Lazise and Lake Garda

Verona is world famours for its magnificent Arena and the association with Shakespare's Romeo and Juliet love story. But for making the most of your trip I suggest you have to visit not only the city town but the lakeside towns around Garda Lake too.

One of the most beautiful lakeside town around Garda lake between Peschiera del Garda and Bardolino near Verona is Lazise, a pleasant lake resort not only for the perfect climate but also for the many cultural, artistic and leisure time activities it offers.

The pretty town of Lazise has all the main features of the lakeside town around the Garda lake colored and elegant with its enchanting small port and Piazza Vittorio Emanuele where you can find many shops and restaurants. Lazise the latin name for “laceses” meaning “place on the lake” there are a lot of interesting things to see.

Firts of all it's rich in historical monuments and the medieval aspect of the town can be identified by the fortified walls built in the 14th century by Della Scala family which surrounds the town. As soon as you reach the town by the lake you can see the impressive Scaligeri fortress and the Torre Campanaria belonging to the Early Middle Ages now a private funerary chapel.

Take a wonder through the elegant churches of San Zeno and San Nicolò which dates back respectively to the 13th and 14th centuries churches and the old villas and visit the stunning Lazise Castle belonging to the 14th centuries one of the well preserved castle on the lake Garda which was modified and reinforced over the centuries.

The castle is situated in the Villa Bernini park. One of the highlight of the place is the Venetian Customs House in Lazise an ancient building built in 1300 and then restored in 1973. It was at first used by the Della Scala family and later by the Venetian Republic. It was turned into a Customs House during the period of the Venetian Republic. Later it became a a cotton textile mill while during the fascist period it became the headquarters of the Fascist Party.

Today the building hosts exhibits and cultural events. If you decide to spend your time strolling in the town you will be amazed to have a quaint experience within medieval walls. The eyecatcher of the towns is the boulevard between the town and the

Garda Lake with particular hypnotic paving made by geometric shapes and lovely ornamental lamp posts. Other lovely historic towns to visit are Bardolino, Sirmione and Peschiera del Garda. Appreciate distinctive tourists attractions around Garda Lake a and enjoy your stay!
