Juliet Festival, Shakespeare's myth relives in Verona

Verona is indisputably linked to the legend of Romeo and Juliet, the love story par excellence: passionate, hampered by events, tragic and romantic; a story that will never be boring.

For this reason, among other events scheduled this summer in Verona, we picked the Juliet Festival, including theater performances, concerts and shows dedicated to the history of the city, the renovated myth of the two lovers and the genius of those who has fixed forever their story among the masterpieces: William Shakespeare.

The Bard was born 450 years ago and the best way to pay tribute to him is to recite his plays reworking them in an original way, but respecting the original meaning. The show we recommend to see, “Opera In Love, Romeo & Juliet” includes all these features: Shakespeare's text in the original language is combined with the most famous opera arias and ballets in a setting that mixes reality and fiction, the Juliet's tomb.

According to Shakespeare is here that the tragedy is consumed, with the vow of love that unites the two young lovers who decide to die next to each other, so it's really exciting to attend a show in this venue, a unique opportunity that will be staged every Monday until 1st September at 8:30 pm (other dates are 11th, 18th and 25th August).

The love story of Romeo and Juliet, thanks to these new interpretations and the constant renewal of the play in many shapes, never ceases to attract the public and to promote around the world one of the sides of Verona. There are historical references in the legend, as the Montague and Capulet families were actually exist and are also known to Dante (who quoted them in his Divine Comedy), furthermore Verona isn't a common a scenario but the ideal place where to set a story of contrasts, burning passions and unsolvable dilemmas.

Today, the city of Verona offers a very motley panorama, the result of the successful integration of architectural elements from different eras; so visit Verona means being embraced by beauty and elegance, as in the dancing party at Capulet's house staged by Shakespeare, a magical place where the masks reveal the most authentic feelings.
